Governors

'The Governors are highly motivated and articulate an ambitious vision for the school that demonstrates their commitment to getting the best from everyone. Governors know the school very well and have an accurate understanding of the quality of teaching and how well pupils are doing.’
(Ofsted December 2012)

Meet our Governors

Ken Salter – Chair of Governors
"I have lived in Ellesmere Port all my life and have been actively engaged in community work for over 60 years. I have been a Governor at Cambridge Road Community Primary School since 1996 and Chair of Governors since 1997. I was a member of the Education Consultation Forum responsible for the development of the current school building and, as such, a key member of the decision - making process. I am passionate about raising the school profile in the community and seek every opportunity to do so.

Rahima Ahmed – Co-opted Governor
“My name is Rahima Ahmed. I am a co-opted governor with responsibility for the English and RE curriculums in school. I regularly meet with both co-ordinators, to ensure that standards in English and RE are as high as they possibly can be.”

Brad Lang – Parent Governor
"When we moved to Ellesmere port in 2011 from Essex I was amazed at how much community spirit there was and always wanted to add value to the town me and my children now call home. Throughout my career I have managed sport and recreation provisions in both the public and private sector as well as rugby and football coaching roles within the voluntary sector. I truly believe in improving the lives of all our pupils and their families. I am proud to be part of a team of governors committed to not just improving the education of our children but aiming to greatly improve their life chances."

Kevin Wood – Parent Governor
"With having 4 children attend the school I thought it would be beneficial to become a member of the school governing body. It's good to have an input into how the school is run and challenge the Head and teaching staff in respect to standards and expectations.

Vikki Lang – Parent Governor
“I have a child in Reception class and with them having at least another six years at the school I joined the governing body to help make the school the best it can possibly be.”

Sandra Proctor – Parent Governor
“I have now been a governor for over five years and I thoroughly enjoy the responsibility. I am the governor link for the School Council, for SEND and for Art amongst other things. I am determined that Cambridge Road will become an outstanding school.”

Governor Register of Interest
Register of Interests for the Governing Body of Cambridge Road School – 1st September 2018.

It is important that governors and staff not only act impartially, but are also seen to act impartially. The governing body and school staff have a responsibility to avoid any conflict between their business and personal interests and affairs and those of the school. There is a legal duty on all governors to declare an interest likely to lead to questions of bias when considering any item of business at a meeting and for the governor concerned to withdraw, if necessary, whilst the matter is considered.

To help put this duty into practice, a governing body is required to establish and maintain a register of pecuniary interests indicating, for all governors and the headteacher, any business interests. This should include, if appropriate, the company by whom they are employed, directorships, significant shareholdings or other appointments of influence within a business or other organisation which may have dealings with the school. They should include their own interest and those of any member of their immediate family (including partners) or other individuals known to them who may exert influence. The register sheet should be signed by the governor. The register will enable governors to demonstrate that in spending public money they do not benefit personally from decisions that they make.
