"A team in which everyone is valued"

Being in Year 6 means that we need to set an outstanding example to all.  Our aim is to be the best that we can be. We do this by working hard everyday, supporting each other and improving ourselves as learners by showing perseverance to make progress.

Within our lessons, we use a variety of strategies to overcome problems and produce pleasing outcomes. We are an enthusiastic class that enjoys new challenges and practical learning experiences. With our teacher, we agree personal targets and try our hardest to achieve them throughout the year. Our learning support assistant, Mrs. Jones, will always is there to help when needed.

Being creative in our learning makes the Year 6 classroom an exciting place to be.

By the time we leave Cambridge Road Primary, we are equipped with the necessary skills to be successful pupils, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

Year 6 is the year that prepares our pupils for their transition to secondary school - and therefore includes a lot of hard work , high expectations , high standards and hopefully great success .

We expect Year 6 children to read every night to an adult. We ask that parents sign their child’s homework diary to show that this has been completed.

Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled. The children are to wear their PE uniform on the days they have PE.

Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school every day as this will avoid dehydration.

Please let the school and the teacher know if your child has any allergies (that we do not already know about) or needs to take any medication.

Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months.

Homework
At times during this academic year, your children will have homework each day.  This is intended to help them consolidate the learning that takes place during lesson time and will ultimately help them achieve good SAT results, which we know they are all capable of reaching.  It is important then that you allow your children time at home to complete these tasks and where you can, talk to them to ensure they understand the importance of them. All homework will be posted on the Year 6 Microsoft TEAMS page.

We also have a high regard at school for reading books.  All children have the opportunity to take a reading book home so please ensure that your child reads as much as they can.  One way of ensuring this is to get your child to read aloud to you each evening or on the weekend.
