Assessment for Learning (AFL)
A key part of the work we are doing to further improve teaching and learning in our school involves the work we have done on embedding formative assessment. The staff have been involved in a two year project with several different schools in Ellesmere Port aimed at developing our formative assessment skills. The key principle behind this work is quite simply to try to improve learning by making accurate day to day assessments which in turn helps the teacher to provide better feedback to the children which in turn allows them to improve their work.
