Class information

Welcome to Year 3.

Our typical day will involve Phonics/Reading and Spelling lessons from 9:45.

A short sensory break then Literacy until break time.

Maths is then taught after break.

After lunch we will usually complete two lessons with a further sensory break to help the children transition from one lesson to another.

Our History topics this year are The Stone Age and Ancient Egypt. Many other subjects such as Art, DT and Science will be linked to these topics where possible.

During the second half of the year we will be taking the children for their first experience on swimming lessons with school. These will continue throughout Key Stage 2.

There is no residential trip in Year 3 but we will aim to visit Norton Priory to learn more about the Stone Age and The World Museum in Liverpool to see their Ancient Egyptian artefacts.

Homework will usually be handed out on a Friday and it is to be returned the following Thursday.

We encourage the children to read every night with an adult at home to improve their reading skills. We also want the children to regularly access Times Tables Rock Stars to improve the recall of their times tables.

In Year 3 we encourage the children to take on more independence in terms of remembering what they need each day. We look forward to seeing them progress and develop as the year unfolds!
