School Admissions

Admissions for places in Reception are managed by the Cheshire West and Chester school admissions department.  Children who attend our nursery do not automatically get a place in Reception.  Parents must apply for a place in Reception by the 15th January for intake the following September.  Places are assigned on the criteria set out by the local authority. Cambridge Road School does not have any input into how places in Reception are allocated.  The local authority will inform parents of their primary school allocation in April prior to the commencement of the school year.

In-year applications for all year groups are managed in school.  Infant class sizes are limited by legislation to 30 children and we are unable to accept children above this number.  Places in Key Stage 2 above 30 are at the headteacher's discretion on a case by case basis, depending on the needs and complexity of the class.  The school is not obliged to hold a waiting list but will contact parents who have made an application, if a place arises.  In-year applications should be made via the local authority website link below.

Applications to high school for those children in Year 6 are managed by Cheshire West and Chester school admissions department.  Applications must by made by 31st October in the year prior to the child's application.  The local authority will notify parents of their child's high school allocation in March prior to the commencement of the school year.

The arrangements in applying for Reception and high school may differ if your child has an EHCP. Please speak to the school SENDCO for more information on this process.
