Handwriting Support

The development of good handwriting is still crucial despite the move to using keyboards and keypads. In Year 3 the children are expected to learn to join. This is extremely important because they are expected to write at a very fast pace in order to meet the writing expectations of the National Curriculum. Joining their handwriting also greatly supports the children with their spelling as when their hands feel the movement of a string of letters, it is better remembered. Here are some extra ideas that will help you child develop their fine motor skills that some of the children who are attending the Parent Workshop handwriting sessions. 

By using puppets to dance the actions to some of the songs below, the children have been developing much greater dexterity in their fingersand are already showing great improvements in their pencil control.
